Mumbai: New Indian cricket team coach will be announced today evening by The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur.
This decision came during the first annual conclave meeting in Dharamsala, when Thakur said “Announcement on Indian cricket team’s coach seems to be sooner than expected.
To appoint team coach the cricket advisory committee (CAC) head Sanjay Jagdale has been given responsibility along with other members comprising former star batsman Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
It is interesting to notice that former Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble name is leading as a strong candidate for the post of Indian cricket team coach.
Earlier, one leading news paper had reported that a powerful member of the BCCI has backed Kumble to be picked ahead of his immediate competitor Ravi Shastri for the head coach.
Team India is without coach since the end of the ICC World Cup Twenty20, after the contract of Team Director and coach Ravi Shastri ended.
To fill this position Sanjay Bangar was appointed as the standing coach for Zimbabwe tour.
The BCCI has put advertisements for new coach appointment on June 1st which attracts overwhelming 57 applications.
