Chennai: Brilliant century by Moeen Ali (120 not out) and a impressive score of (88 out) by Joe Root took England to a fine score in their first innings on the opening day of the fifth and final cricket Test against India.
It was a fine bowling display by the Indian bowlers as they made life tough for the England top order batsmen and dismissed openers Alistair Cook and Keaton Jennings at the very early stage of the innings.
England team was struggling at 21/2 and then Root and Ali came together to add 146 runs between them landing the visitors in a decent situation.
Root was batting superbly before he got out by left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja at the score of 88 following a failed review. Jadeja was the most successful among the Indian bowlers as he managed to bag 2 wickets by giving 54 runs.
