Infiltration bid foiled in Kashmir’s Kupwara; one soldier killed

Jammu: Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid by militant in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday.

One soldier identified as Ramesh Yadav was martyred in the gunfire exchanges with the terrorists, as per reports.

Defence sources said a group of heavily armed guerrillas were challenged on the LoC by alert troops when they were trying to sneak into the Indian side late last evening.

“When challenged, terrorists resorted to heavy gunfire which was returned. The infiltrators were forced to withdraw back,” added Defence sources.
