Injury Premiere League for Pune as Smith ruled out of IPL

Pune: The stars of MS Dhoni led Rising Pune Supergiants are not in their favour as after Kevin Pieterson, Faf du Plesis and Mitchelll Marsh’s departure, injury woes continues for the team as Australian skipper Steven Smith has been ruled out of IPL 2016 due to wrist injury.

The report has been confirmed by Australia’s sports science and sports medicine manager Alex Kountouris, who informs that Smith had been complaining pain in his right wrist since the last week and now he would head home for further treatment ahead of their tour to West India.

“Steve has been struggling with pain in his right wrist for the last week during his stint in the IPL. We have been working with his IPL franchise Pune to monitor this, and unfortunately it has not resolved. As such, he will return home from India for further assessment and treatment ahead of the tour of the West Indies,” said Kountouris.

Supergiants, who have just two wins from eight games are currently standing sixth in the points table.

RPS will take on Zaheer Khan led Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on Thursday.
