Issue of water availability in India could become a central question: Hamid Ansari

Pune (Maharashtra): Vice-President M. Hamid Ansari today stated that water availability issue in India possibly will become a central question before national planning agencies in the future with the impact of global climate changes.

Ansari was speaking at the inaugural of the CWPRS centenary celebrations at Khadakwasla and there he asked the Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS) to play a key role in developing knowledge, insight and skills to meet the upcoming challenges on this front.

Lauding CWPRS’s contributions over the years, Ansari said the field of water resources management will have to continue to adapt to the current and future issues facing the allocation of water.

He further went on to say, “With the growing uncertainties of global climate will lead to situations that have not been encountered, and as a result new management strategies will have to be implemented to avoid setbacks in the allocation of water resources.”
