Kolkata: After Indian team posted 316 on the board in the first innings it was upto the bowlers to make the most of this pitch and pick early wickets for team India and they did that in style by dismissing seven New Zealand batsmen by end of days play.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the man for India who made it look easy and kept dismissing the Kiwi Batsmen at regular intervals. He was really happy for picking up 5 wickets and stated that it was his dream to take five wickets in India and when he saw this pitch he was eagerly waiting for the same.

“In India you rarely get this kind of wicket, so I wanted to make full use of it,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar after the days play stated. “It was one of my dreams to take five wickets in India. When I saw that the wicket would help me, I told myself I want to take five wickets. I really wanted to make use of the opportunity and I’m very happy with how I bowled.”

Earlier, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha managed to smash unbeaten 54 enabling Indian team to get to a fine total of 316. His role along with the lower order batsmen was very important and he made the most of this opportunity.

Saha talking to media stated: “The plan was to focus on short partnerships. We thought 270-280 will be a good score initially then try for 300. Thankfully that happened with Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) and (Mohammed) Shami.”
