Jharkhand Police drag girl around with rope tied to waist; 4 suspended

Alwar: Violating the orders of the apex court against handcuffing or restraining women, the Jharkhand Police supposedly tied a 23-year-old girl with a rope around her waist after arresting her in Alwar, Jharkhand.

As per reports, Aparna alias Paru faced arrest after her sister-in-law filed a dowry harassment case against her husband, father-in-law Dinesh Kumar and mother-in-law and accused them of harassing her.

On reaching Aparna’s house in Bank Colony, the police found her parents and brother missing following which they interrogated Aparna and arrested her. The official said that Aparna too was accused.

After arresting Aparna, the Jharkhand Police tied a rope around her waist and kept her tied at the Railway police station in Alwar and then later took her to the Railway Station in the same manner. Following which the locals and the eyewitnesses captured the entire scene on their smartphones.

However, the police official alleged that they had to keep Aparna tied as she tried to runaway while undergoing medical examination.

The incident lead to the suspension of Sub Inspector, 2 women constables and one constable.
