Kanwar Yatra is performed by unemployed: JDU leader Sharad Yadav

New Delhi: Hurting the religious sentiments of the devotees of Lord Shiva, Janata Dal-United (JDU) leader Sharad Yadav on Friday said that the ‘Kanwar Yatra’ which is performed by in the month of monsoon, is done by those who are unemployed.

JDU leader in his statement said that the number of ‘Kanwarias’ on the road at this time show the amount of unemployment in the country.

He further went on to say that had there been employment, the number of ‘Kanwariyas’ on roads would have been less.

Many ‘Kanwarias’ who call them devotees of Lord Shiva have criticized Sharad Yadav for making such remarks against them. Talking about the ‘Kanwarias’ they carry metal canisters filled with Holy Water from the Ganges River and then offer it to Lord Shiva at the temples in this holy month of “Shravan”.
