Knifeman stabs dozens in Tokyo; 19 dead, 25 injured

Tokyo: On Tuesday, former employee at a care centre for the mentally disabled in Japan, killed 19 people and injured more than 25 here. It is considered to be one of the worst mass killings in the past decades.

Also, the attacker identified as 26-year-old Satoshi Uemastu, after committing the crime, surrendered before the police and said, ‘I did it.’ He further went on to say, “The disabled should all disappear.”

Satoshi worked in the centre and was removed from his job in February. Ever since then he held grudge against the centre wanted to take revenge for the same.

As per reports, the attack began early in the morning when Satoshi entered the building by breaking the window. Following this he tied up the care takers and then began stabbing the residents.

The victims suffered deep stab wounds, as confirmed by a doctor.

The entire area around the hospital was cordoned off by the police officials and ambulance, fire tenders were rushed to the site.

Out of the deceased, nine were men and 10 women.

US termed the act a senseless one as it took place at a facility centre for the disabled.
