Legendary hockey player Mohammed Shahid passes away in Gurgoan

New Delhi: On Wednesday, legendary hockey player, Mohammed Shahid passed away at Gurgaon’s Medanta Hospital.

Medical condition of the 56-year-old hockey player was deteriorating day by day. Also, on Tuesday night he had gone into coma. He was suffering with liver and kidney problems and was also provided Rs 10 lakh as medical grant from the Sports Ministry.

His employees and the Railway were also ready to pay his medical expenses.

Shahid was part of India’s 1980 Olympics team, which won the gold medal in Moscow.

In the past few weeks, many members from the fraternity also visited the ailing hockey player.
