Loktantra Bachao March: Sonia Gandhi, Rahul released after short detention

New Delhi: After scores of Congress party members turned to the streets here to launch ‘Loktantra Bachao March’, the Delhi Police, on Friday, detained the party President Sonia Gandhi, Vice President Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Irked party workers protested against the police action outside the Parliament Street Police station after which they were released.

Congress slammed the opposition party BJP for spreading lies and making fake promises in the context of ‘Achhe Din’.

Sonia Gandhi said that no one is concerned for Uttarakhand jungle fire as there is no government in the state due to BJP.

She said, “Today, Uttarakhand’s jungles are burning but nothing is being done about it because there is no government. The BJP government is murdering democracy by taking down democratically elected governments. No matter how much they try to fight democracy, we will not let you succeed.”

Taking the attack further, Rahul Gandhi said, “Modiji talked about ‘Achhe din’ when he came to power. But today, almost 40% of the country is affected by drought and he has nothing to say.”

Rahul said that anyone, who pitches against two people (Modi and Bhagwat) in the country, are charged with false allegations.

He said, “Today in India, the voice of only two people are heard, Narendra Modiji and Mohan Bhagwatji.”

Congress and the BJP have been of late involved in a bitter banter on a range of issues, including the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam.
