Lucknow based retired officer held for running prostitution racket in South Delhi

Lucknow: A 63-years-old retired army officer belongs to Lucknow has been today arrested by Delhi police for running high-profile prostitution racket from South Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave area on charge of exploitation of a trafficked person.

Accused Pritindra Nath Sanyal was arrested after Income Tax department put raids at his Safdarjung residence where they have found a 23-years-old Russian woman who was kept against her will, police said.

According to South Delhi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishwar Singh told media persons, “He was caught after the Income Tax department forwarded a complaint to police a few days ago regarding his sources of income.”

The incident came into limelight on June 2nd when the IT department conducted raids on Sanyal house. They noticed that a foreign woman belongs to Central Asia in his house, who said that she wanted to leave the house and slashed her wrist in front of IT department officials.

She was later admitted to the nearby hospital for treatment where her condition is reportedly to be critical.

The IT department officers carried out raids at his two properties in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj and Safdarjung Enclave area and one in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar posh colony, police said.
