Lucknow’s Sainik School renamed as Capt Manoj Pandey School

LUCKNOW: The UP Cabinet today approved Lucknow’s Sainik School to be renamed as Capt Manoj Pandey School. Capt Manoj Pandey who was martyred during the Kargil war will now be remembered among the students of the school every time they spell the name of their school.

The formal ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 26, which is marked as Kargil Vijay Diwas. Chief Minister Aditya Nath Yogi and governor Ram Naik will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at Smritika War Memorial to honour the state’s martyrs in the war on the day.

Though it is a state government-run school with the chief minister as the chairman of its general body, the administration and appointment of principal and proctor, however, rest with the ministry of defence.
