Rio de Janerio: Russian professional lawn tennis player Maria Sharapova would return to action in January next year.
Sharapova who was banned for two years for violating anti-doping rules, may be seen back in action again from January 2017.
This information was shared by the President of Russian tennis federation, Shamil Tarpischev on Monday.
Tarpishchev said, “A decision will be made in September. I’m not certain but I believe that she’ll start playing as of January 2017.”
Sharapova who is five-time grand slam winner, banned in June for two years for doping offences, may be allowed to return in January.
The 29-year-old, former world No.1 Sharapova, was suspended following a positive test for the banned drug meldonium during January’s Australian Open.
