Maths becomes easier in learning with innovative teaching

Shillong: If you have ‘Mathematics phobia’ then now there is some good news for all those who have interest in learning Maths as their best subject, an innovative method of teaching Maths in beginning classes in Meghalaya has made Mathematics learn in fun-filled way.

According to reports, the state government has roped an NGO three years ago to address the problem related to learning Maths, innovative methods of teaching at primary level.

State director of School Education and Literacy Ambrose Ch Marak told media persons, at present over lakh students in primary and secondary schools across the state are benefiting from the project that incorporates stories, colours, shapes and songs in the process.

He added that there has been an improvement in the quality of mathematics education in primary classes.

He said mathematics phobia that affects many students has now undergone a change following the government roped in NGO, ‘Jodo Gyan’ three years ago to solve the problem.

A representative from the NGO said, the NGO has trained teachers from over 4,000 government and government sponsored school in the state, disheartens the use of tradition ‘chalk and talk’ method.

She further said, it stresses on the interactive method that allows a child to learn while playing.
