Monsoon hits Kerala, Lakshadweep

Thiruvananthapuram: In a big relief from heat and scorching weather conditions Monsoon has finally hits Kerala and Lakshadeep on Wednesday.

According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports, the southwest Monsoon has finally reached over Kerala and Lakshadweep.

The director of IMD in Thiruvananthapuram, K. Santhosh said that “good rains” were expected in the upcoming days over the states.

The officials said that data received from 14 stations in Lakshadweep, Kerala and Mangalore from May 10th.

Basically Southwest Monsoon normally use to reach Kerala around June 10 and use to advanced northwards, so on it covers the entire country by around June 15.

It is noticed that last year, the IMD forecast the date for the onset of the southwest monsoon as May 30, the actual onset took place on June 5.
