Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today broke his silence and cleared air on the rift within the party by saying that till I am here, there will be division in the Samajwadi family’.

The SP chief broked his silence on the rift between his son Akhilesh and his brother Shivpal and said, “There can’t be a rift in the party till I am here. Samajwadi Party is a family, there are no differences in it.”

He told party supporters. Akhilesh’s rejection of Shivpal’s resignation from government post was seen as an attempt to douse the fracture within the party.

“Every father and son duo faces issues. There is no rift but it is the fault of our people as well, who spoke to media,” he said, adding. “It is elections time, we should all come together and work. There is no fight between Ramgopal Yadav, Akhilesh and Shivpal.”

He said, I asked Akhilesh to meet Shivpal and resolve issues at the earliest. “Akhilesh humari baat taalega? Akhilesh humaari baat nahin taal sakte.”

Mulayam further clarified on the alleged differences between him and Akhilesh, saying that such misunderstandings often happen between a father and son.

Earlier, Mulayam held separate meetings with Akhilesh and Shivpal to solve the crisis within the party.

Shivpal had announced his resignation from all party posts and the government late on Thursday night.
