Muslim writer thrashed in Kerala for insulting God

Kochi: A group of unidentified youths thrashed a young Muslim in Palakkad district Kerala for allegedly insulting God in the title of his new collection of short stories. As per reports, the incident took place in the night on Sunday.

The Muslim boy identified as 26-year-old P Jimshar was attacked at the time when he was waiting at a bus stop at Koottanadu in the district. His collection of short stories – Padachonte Chithra Pradarshan (God’s Photo Exhibition) will release n August 5.

Reports are that the Muslim writer has landed into trouble as the word ‘Padachon’ means Allahu (God) in Malayalam. However, according to Jimshar, said that the the title of his collection of short stories has nothing to do with God and that the title is one of the nine stories in his book.

A case has been registered against Jaffar and three other unidentified men on the basis of a complaint filed by the writer.

In his complaint, the writer said, “He took me a little away from the bus stop and asked, ‘Will you write derisively about Padachon?’ Then I was kicked in the chest. Three others also joined him and attacked me. Locals took me to hospital.”
