My conversation with PM Phuc was extensive: Modi

Hanoi: Following the delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc, India today upgraded its relationship with Vietnam from “strategic partnership” to “comprehensive strategic partnership”.

India today also signed an agreement to make available patrol boats and extended a $500-million line of credit in the defence sector to Vietnam in a clear indication of New Delhi enhancing its presence in Southeast Asia’s geopolitical scenario.

“My conversation with PM Phuc was extensive,” Modi said in a joint press address with his Vietnamese counterpart.

“We agreed to tap into the growing economic opportunities in the region,” he said.
