Namotel rolls out world’s cheapest smartphone at just Rs 99; bookings begin

New Delhi: Many who were expecting PM Narendra Modi branded ‘Acche Din’ with the launch of world’s cheapest smartphone Freedom 251, were taken aback after the handsets were not delivered. However, there is some good news for all as a Bangalore-based company named Namotel has launched an android phone which carries a price tag of Rs 99 and the corporation claims it to be the cheapest smartphone in the world.

The handset is priced at just Rs 99. The price of this handset puts aside Freedom 251, making it the cheapest handset of the world.

As per reports, the Namotel Acche Din smartphone sports a a 4-inch display and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It is powered by 1.3GHz quadcore processor, 1GB RAM.

The dual SIM smartphone has an internal storage of 4GB, 3G connectivity, 2MP rear and a VGA front camera. Also, it has a 1325 mAh battery.

Registration for the handset can be made on company’s official site till May 27. However, the site cannot be reached for now.
