Nestle wants destroy 550 tonnes of Maggi stock

New Delhi: Nestle India today sought the Supreme Court’s permission for destroying 550 tonnes of Maggi stocks outdated.

A plea has been moved in this regard by the senior counsel Harish Salve before a bench of Justice Dipak Misra and Justice C. Nagappan, in which he mentioned that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) needed to be consulted.

Salve told the court this was an old allegation that was raised before the High Court , as the FSSAI counsel raised an earlier issue of the destruction of evidence by the Nestle.

He told the bench that Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi had in the early hearing said that he was not interested in these issues and was only interested in the declarations of law.

As lawyer for the FSSAI reiterated that he had to take instructions and Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi led the FSSAI before the court, the bench adjourned the hearing directing next hearing on September 30.
