Mumbai: In the recent 2017 Khadi Udyog calendar and diary, photo of Mahatama Gandhi has been ejected out and instead of him it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi spinning the “charkha”.

Calendar has been published by the Khadi Village Industries Commission or KVIC, and the commission’s calendars have always featured Mahatma Gandhi in the past keeping in mind that he was the one who founded the Khadi movement in the 1920s.

Several employees and officials have expressed their shock after seeing the cover photo showing PM Modi weaving Khadi on a large ‘charkha’.

KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena reacting to this stated: “The entire khadi industry (udyog) is based on Gandhiji’s philosophy, ideas and ideals, he is the soul of KVIC, so there is no question of ignoring him.”
