Olympic gold for Brazil, Neymar shines

Rio de Janeiro: Brazil defeated Germany in the final match to clinch the first gold medal in Olympic football with a dramatic 5-4 (1-1) penalty shoot-out victory.

It was a close fight till the end and had to be settled with the penalty corner. Brazil made the most of this opportunity to earn them gold in Olympics.

The Brazil skipper held his nerve after the scores were tied 1-1 at the end of extra-time at the Maracana stadium.

For Germany it was Lars Bender who let them down as he missed in the shoot-out, with Brazil goalkeeper Weverton saving a crucial penalty to win games for them.

Neymar got superb start for his team with first-half free-kick but Germany equalised through a 59th-minute strike from captain Max Meyer.
