P.V. Sindhu clinches China Open title

Fuzhou (China): Olympic silver medallist P.V. Sindhu today made history by clinching the women’s singles title of the China Superseries Premier badminton tournament after she thrashed Chinese Sun Yu.

Seventh seeded Sindhu won the first game 21-11 but then was defeated by her Chinese opponent in the next 17-21 before registering a 21-11 triumph in the final game to clinch the title.

The final match of the series lasted for an hour and nine minutes and was also Sindhu’s maiden Superseries Premier title.
