Pardaphash Exclusive: NGT tough on UP government

Pardaphash has learned that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed UP government to get rid of the debris that are lying on the flood plains of Yamuna.

NGT is of the opinion that indiscriminate dumping of waste comes under the category of a direct source of river pollution.

Irrigation department is given a task of conducting out these directions.

The time duration of the whole process is going to be 3 weeks. The green panel believes that the work for rejuvenation of river Yamuna should not be stopped as the pollution is going up on a daily basis.

With regard to the project report of the second stage of the Yamuna cleaning, it has already been submitted.

The tribunal had earlier banned open defecation and waste dumping on the floodplains of the Yamuna by declaring an environment compensation of Rs 5,000 for those who violated the order.
