Dehradun: The UP government has assured Uttarakhand that it will soon take a final call with regard to cost sharing of Jamrani Multipurpose Hydropower Project on Gola river in Nainital.
This was decided at a meeting between Uttarakhand irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj and UP irrigation minister Dharam Pal.
Apart from this, duo also discussed distribution of the irrigation department’s assets. Since its inception in 2000, lots of properties of Uttarakhand have remained under the control of Uttar Pradesh.
UP irrigation minister has also given an assurance to Maharaj to return an MoU proposal sent by the Uttarakhand government in May regarding the hydropower project for acceding its nod.
Pardaphash has learned that both ministers had a cordial discussion on Jamrani Power Project. This is significant because it will assist both UP and Uttarakhand irrigate their huge farm area and offer the needed drinking water to a vast size of population in Uttarakhand.
Indications are that the cost of the project is going to increase by 15-20% from current Rs.2,351 crore to Rs.2700-2480 crore.
