Islamabad: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) small charted flight PK-661 crashed near Abbottabad today after taking takeoff from Chitral for Islamabad.

A domestic flight of Pakistan airlines with 47 people on board on Wednesday crashed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the media reported.

According to media reports, the PIA plane was flying from the northern city of Chitral to Islamabad when it crashed.

Some Pakistani newspapers and television channels reported the plane, whose pilot gave a distress call before it went off the radar, went down in a mountainous area.

There has been no confirmed news about the loss of lives of the people on the board.
