Players will inevitably break down due to crowded cricket schedule: Lehmann

Lehmann, the Australia’s cricket team head coach today stated that the existing high-intensity international schedule is unsustainable for players who take part in one day matches as well as in Test and T20’s.

He requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to do more to nullify player workload.

Lehmann said this as the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to undermine recent ICC changes to the schedule, in order to maximise profits through a “mini IPL” in September.

“If it keeps going like this, with players playing IPL as well, they are inevitably going to break down,” he stated further.
