Playing Khilji in ‘Padmavati’ was my toughest role so far: Ranveer

Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh after justifying several lead roles in the Indian cinema today revealed that the role he has portrayed in the upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’ was his toughest role so far.

‘Padmavati is a movie based on period drama and is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and features Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji who fell in love with queen Padmavati.

Along with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, movie features Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh.
Ranveer further stated that playing the role in ‘Padmavati’ was a challenge for him and he had prepared very hard to for this film.

Talking to media he stated: “It’s very difficult. It’s physically, emotionally, mentally very draining. It’s my biggest challenge yet as an actor. I prepared very hard for it, almost a month. We have started shooting and Bhansali is pretty happy with the way things have shaped up.”

The actor further added: “This time (for ‘Padmavati’) I didn’t have a hotel room but had the whole apartment to myself. I actually had more time for this character than I had for Bajirao. For Bajirao, I had around 18 days, this time I had around 21.”

The film will be hitting the theatres on November 17 of 2017 and Ranveer is very much hopeful of doing justice to the role he has been given in the film.
