PM Modi extends greetings to Jayalalithaa on taking oath as Tamil Nadu CM

Chennai: On Monday, the AIADMK chief, J Jayalalithaa took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. She was sworn in for a second consecutive term. Celebrations are on around Chennai as Jayalalithaa took oath.

Also, this is for the first time after the death of former chief minister MG Ramachandra Menon whose ruling party returned to power in Tamil Nadu for the second consecutive term.

The oath ceremony was relayed live in all the districts of the state via the mobile vans of digi screens which were installed by the Information and Public relation department. Also, tight security arrangements were made around the century old auditorium of the Madras University.

The oath taking ceremony was also attended for the first time by DMK Party’s treasurer M.K. Stalin. On behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu attended the ceremony. Also, PM Modi greeted Jayalalithaa on becoming the CM of Tamil Nadu on Twitter.

AIADMK MLA and former MP Semmalai will be the pro-term speaker for the 15th Assembly.

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah administered oath of office to the Chief Minister and 28 members of the cabinet.
