PM Modi remembers Rajiv Gandhi on 72nd birth anniversary

New Delhi: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered former PM Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his 72nd birth anniversary.

Born on August 20, 1944, Rajiv Gandhi was the sixth Prime Minister of India (1984-1989).

Rajiv Gandhi took charge after the assassination of his mother and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 21, 1984.

On May 21, 1991 Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a suicide bombing at Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur.
