New Delhi: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today host his Thailand counterpart PM Prayut Chan-o-cha who is on a three-day visit to India. Also, PM Modi will hold a meet with Prayut and discuss of exploring ways to expand their maritime security co-operation keeping in mind the growing threat of terrorism and along with this boost trade.
Along with this, leaders of the two nations will also hold discussions on the current situation in the South China Sea.
Modi will also host lunch in honor of his Thai counterpart.
Vice President Hamid Ansari will also meet the Thai PM. The Thai Prime Minister is accompanied by his wife Narapoen Chan-o-cha and many cabinet ministers, senior officials and a 46-member business delegation.
Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju received the Thailand PM at the airport yesterday. Chan-o-Cha might today address speech at the business event hosted by FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.
In a statement, the External Affairs Ministry said, “India’s excellent relations with Thailand are an important and integral component of India’s strategic partnership with ASEAN. India’s ‘Act East’ policy is complemented by Thailand’s ‘Look West’ policy in bringing the two countries closer.”
MEA added, “India and Thailand have strong economic synergies and the diversifying profile of growing bilateral trade and investment reflects the growth and maturity of the interaction between the two economies.”
On Saturday, the Thailand PM will visit Bodhgaya.
