Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk transferred following traffic chaos in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: Life came to a standstill for one night and a day in Gurgaon as heavy rainfall resulted in flooding the area, hence bringing the traffic to a halt. Normalcy has now resumed in the area, however this resulted in the transfer of the city’ Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk.

Chief Minister Manohar Lala Khattar’s government issued these orders. Sandeep Khirawar will now be the new police chief of Gurgaon.

Virk like any dedicated officer came down on the streets to manage the traffic and was seen riding a cycle in the water logged areas. Apart from him the traffic policemen stood on the roads with their knee immersed in water, trying to help the stranded commuters.

Heavy traffic jam was witnessed in the evening on Thursday after heavy rainfall. The area which was affected the most was the Hero Honda Chowk on NH8 which connects Delhi to Gurgaon.

Also, schools remained closed for the rest of the week.

An emergency meet was also called by Chief Minister Khattar yesterday to discuss on the same. A team was also send by NHAI officials on orders of Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to help the commuters.
