Pro-Khalistan, anti-govt. slogans raised on 32nd anniversary of ‘Operation Blue Star’

Amritsar: On the 32nd anniversary of ‘Operation Bluestar’, a small group of people who raised pro-Khalistan and anti-government slogans were whisked away by the SGPC Task Force. As per reports, the slogans were raised by the group soon after after Akal Takht Jathedar (chief) Gurbachan Singh finished his address to the Sikh community.

On the occasion of Bluestar anniversary, prayers were offered at the Golden Temple complex. Despite the protests, the event went on peacefully. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) task force members and police officers were dressed in normal clothes so as to avert any toward incident.

The event was attended by numerable people, as confirmed by SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar. Ahead of the Blue Star anniversary, the entire city of Amritsar was on high alert.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal asked the people to maintain peace and calm on the anniversary.

Talking about the Operation Blue Star, numerable people and security personnel were killed. The operation was carried out to flush out armed extremists led by separatist Sikh leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
