New Delhi: On Monday, number of BJP workers and volunteers held protests outside Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s residence in the national capital. This comes soon after the party’s statement on the Batla House encounter case.
In a statement made by Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh last week, he triggered controversy by saying that the 2008 Batla House encounter was fake and along with this he demanded the Central government to investigate in the encounter in which two suspected terrorists and a police officer were killed.
Singh in his statement to the media had said, “Batla House encounter was fake. I dare the BJP to go for a judicial probe. I still stand by my remarks on the encounter. I don’t know who is Bada Sajid or Chhota Sajid.” However, the next day Shivraj Patil rejected the claims made by Singh saying that the encounter was genuine and not fake.
In his statement to the media, Patil said, “I have said in past, that encounter wasn’t fake. If someone says something otherwise, then it’s his responsibility to prove it.”
This encounter which took place during the UPA rule, came into news once again after an ISIS operative claimed that he ran away from the Batla House sometime before the police raid.
