Punjab AAP leader Ashish Khaitan booked for comparing manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib

Chandigarh: On Wednesday, Punjab Police registered an FIR against AAP leader Ashish Khaitan for hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.

As per reports, the complaint was filed against Khetan in Amritsar after he compared the manifesto of his party with the Holy Book Guru Granth Sahib and also with other religious books at the launch in Amritsar.

The AAP leader has been booked under Section 295A.

On the other hand, the AAP leader who faces criticism for using the picture of the Golden Temple on the ‘Youth Manifesto’ for the upcoming assembly polls in Punjab, made an apology saying that he did not do it intentional and to ‘undermine any section of the society’.

Previously, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal attacked the Aam Aadmi Party for using the image of Golden Temple on the cover page of its manifesto along with the party’s symbol – Broomstick. They said that it amounted to desecration and thereby demanded an apology from AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
