Punjab innovator who got facilitated last year by Modi arrested with fake currency

Mohali (Punjab): Abhinav Verma, engineer by profession who got appreciation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year for his innovation has now landed into police custody following his involvement seen in exchange of fake Rs 2,000 notes in Mohali town of Punjab.

The Punjab Police in Mohali have caught fake currency worth Rs 42 lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination and have taken Abhinav Verma, his cousin Vishakha Verma, and Ludhiana-based property dealer Suman Nagpal into custody.

All the three people have been caught exchanging the demonetised Rs 500 and 1,000 notes for the fake Rs 2,000 notes and have also been charging 30 per cent commission for the exchange.
