New Delhi: The badminton star PV Sindhu who emerged as a star in the Rio Olympics where she managed to make India proud by winning a silver medal for the country. Sindhu’s runners-up finish at the Hong Kong Open and her China Open title respectively helped her gain the 7th position in Badminton World Federation (BWF) women’s singles rankings.
Sindhu have now made her place in the BWF superseries in Dubia where only top 8 women’s singles rankers will get entry into the series finals and the series to start from December 14 and will continue for another four days till December 18.
Another ace badminton player Saina Nehwal who bagged in bronze medal in London Olympics brought good news as she rose back to the top-10.
This time there are certain changes in the top three rankers of the BWF women’s singles ranking, with Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying secured the top spot after her Hong Kong Open victory, Rio gold medalist Carolina Marin of Spain is in No.2 position while Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon also fell one rung to No.3.
Talking about the men’s singles Indian shuttler Sameer Verma’s runner-up finish at the Hong Kong Open was rewarded with a leap of 13 spots to No.30, while Kidambi Srikanth fell one spot to No.13 in the list led by Malaysian veteran Lee Chong Wei.
