Jakarta: An earthquake of intensity 6.3 on the Richter Scale today hit the West Java province in Indonesia. However, the meteorology and geophysics agency said that there was no tsunami alert issued.
Official of the agency gave information that the epicentre was determined at 120 km northeast Subang of the province with the depth at 654 km under sea bed. “We did not issue a tsunami warning,” the official said.
The agency revised downward the magnitude of the quake to 6.3 immediately after it stated that it was at 6.5 magnitude, he added. The USGS reported the quake was at 6.2 magnitude.
