Quake of 6.7 magnitude rocks Kamchatka peninsula in Russia

Moscow: According to the information given by the local seismological station, an earthquake of magnitude 6.7 on the Richter scale today hit Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula.



Following to the jolts by the earthquake, there was a tsunami alert issued as there were few aftershocks as well.
The quake occurred at a depth of 22.8 km at 7 a.m. and the epicentre was located in an enclave in the Bering Sea, 85 km north of Ust-Kamchatsk.

There was an aftershock of intensity 4.9 that took place after 25 minutes, however, the impact on the area is yet to be known.
