Rains cause traffic jams in Mumbai; IMD issues heavy to very heavy rainfall warning in some areas

Mumbai: Heavy rainfall in Mumbai city on Friday, led to flooding of the roads which caused heavy traffic jams in different parts of the city. Also, the India Meteorological Department today said that there would be light showers in the city and suburbs.

Also, IMD has informed the Thane and Navi Mumbai municipal corporations of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. Following these reports, the Thane Tehsildar’s office has instructed these corporations to deploy rescue staff at the problematic areas especially along the foothills and the low lying areas including Parsik and Belapur hills.

On the other hand, TMC has begun jotting down their action plan to deal with any type of crisis during heavy rainfall here.

On Thursday, a meet was called by Mayor Sanjay More and civic commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal and was attended by number of corporators to streamline a plan to mitigate issues at perennial inundation spots in the city during the rains.
