Ram Nath Kovind, Narendra Modi pay tribute to Mahatama Gandhi

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birth anniversary in the national capital.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajgath.

Modi took to Twitter and said, “My respects to Gandhi Ji. I bow to beloved Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. His noble ideals motivate millions across the world.”

Not just that, Modi attached a video message and shared the significance of Bapu’s principles.

On the other hand, Narendra Modi, Ram Nath Kovind Venkaiah Naidu also paid tributes to Lal Bahadur Shashtri at Vijayghat. Shashtri’s birthday also falls on October 2.

Also, Modi will review the progress of his Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on its third anniversary. It is a mission of ruling BJP to make people aware about the advantages of cleanliness. It was launched on October 2, 2014.

‘Cleanliness is Godliness’ had been the mantra of Mahatma Gandhi.

According to sources, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has increased sanitation scenario from 39 percent to 67.5 percent.
