Rampur BSP candidate Dr Tanveer faces heat form Azam Khan

Rampur: The Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) candidate from Rampur city Dr Tanveer Ahmad Khan his brother Mehmood Ahmad Khan have faced heat of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and Urban Development Minister Azam Khan for joining political war against him.

The local administration and police ransacked at Dr Tanveer’s Sewa hospital in the main city and have arrested him along with his brother.

Tanveer and his brother Mehmood who were arrested on Saturday were remanded to 12-day judicial custody on Sunday.

The duo was arrested in connection with a protest by locals over vandalism of a graveyard situated on Jail road earlier in the day.

Tanveer is BSP’s candidate from Rampur city assembly seat for the 2017 elections.

Earlier, his brother Dr Mehmood was arrested. The matter came into limelight when hundreds of BSP workers gathered outside the city Kotwali police station and demanded his immediate release.

The BSP workers pelted stones at the policemen, forcing the latter to fire several shots in the air to disperse the mob. Police also resorted to a lathicharge against the crowd in which several protesters and police personnel sustained minor injuries during the clash.

The BSP city unit president Mahesh Sagar said, “The local administration has become a puppet in the hands of SP leader and minister Azam Khan and fake cases were lodged against the BSP leaders by police.
