Mumbai: Actress Rani Mukerji has starred in many hits and won several awards for her power-packed performances. The gorgeous lady recently added one more feather to her cap as she was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award in Mauritius.
Rani, who is one of the most versatile leading ladies in the tinsel town, won Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award at Mauritius, as part of their run-up to the 50 th year of Independence celebrations.
Pravind Kumar Jugnauth ,Prime Minister of Mauritius, conferred this award to Rani at Mauritius cinema week.
After receiving the award Rani said, “I am humbled, thankful and proud that Mauritius has given me such honour and love with this Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award. This festival brings some really good cinema and also provides a rare chance for French and Indian cinema to be celebrated together. Many of my films like Bichhoo, Hello Brother and Kuch Kuch Hota Hain have been shot here. I love the pristine natural scenery and vibrant culture of Mauritius. I am thankful that those of Indian origin have given me such affection. We share a common history of colonialism and struggle for independence. In the years to come, I hope we also find common ground in our arts and cinema.”
Apart from Rani, French actress Emmanuelle Beart was received the same honour.
Rani is all set to make her return to the big screen with Siddharth P Malhotra’s ‘Hichki’.
