RBI to unveil new Rs 500/Rs 2,000 notes from November 10

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Urjit Patel today said that the apex bank will launch new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 currency notes from November 10th.

Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said while unveiling the new notes, “RBI will launch new currency notes from November 10.”

Both Patel and Das were briefed media quries after Prime Minister Narendra Modi in all of sudden address to the nation today, announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes are being withdrawn from midnight.

“Banks will keep record of people who will come to exchange cash,” Das added.
