Republic Day: Delhi sees full dress rehearsal parade, traffic halted

Delhi today saw the full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath, the parade began from the Vijay Chowk and proceeded to Red Fort.

Each and every office in the locality of Rajpath remained closed till 1 pm today and there was a great traffic jam seen on the other areas of capital as well due to the fact that there were traffic diversions done by the police.

The Delhi Traffic Police however made fine preparations for smooth conduct of the Parade along the route. On the other hand, traffic from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath got closed from 6.30 pm on Sunday evening and no traffic will be allowed till the parade is over today.

Correspondingly, traffic will not be permitted at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road till the parade is over today and then will be opened for public.

According to the information by official, seventeen states and six Ministries and Departments tableaux will be taking part in the Republic Day Parade this year.

Defence Ministry official talking to media stated that these tableaux will display diverse themes commencing from country’s rich cultural heritage and socio-economic development to nation’s progress in key areas like IT, Women, Empowerment and Environment Protection.
