Ricky Ponting to coach Aussie T20Is team against Sri Lanka

Melbourne: Cricket Australia (CA) today made it clear that former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting will be giving his services as interim assistant coach with the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad all through the upcoming series against Sri Lanka next month.

The ex- star batsman of Australia will work with the existing interim head coach Justin Langer and interim assistant coach Jason Gillespie during the three matches in Melbourne, Geelong and Adelaide.

These three names have been taken in for service as the core of existing Australia team will be in India for a four-match Test assignment that commences February 23.

On the appointment Ponting said: “I always said when I retired that I wanted to get back involved and what better way to do it than alongside a couple of my best mates in cricket, Justin Langer and Jason Gillespie?”
