Rohingya boat overturns near Bangladesh border, five dead

Police official informed that, a boat carrying scores of Rohingya people aboard capsized in the Bay of Bengal close to Bangladesh’s border with Myanmar on Monday.

Media reports showed that there were dozens of people who are still missing. The UN has raised the number of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh to 537,000.

The crisis began on August 25, when an insurgent group of the Rohingya Muslim minority staged a series of attacks on police and army posts in the Rakhine state.

The Myanmar military responded with large-scale offensive triggering the mass migration.
