Top Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova knocked out from women’s double quarter-finals of the U.S open today, after they were beaten 6-7 (3), 1-6 by top seed player’s Caroline Garcia and Mladenovic.
World number 1 in women’s double ranking Sania, was the last hope for India representing country at U.S open as earlier Rohan Bhopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski lost in the mixed doubles quarters on Monday.
In the first set Sania and Barbora managed to get an early jump of 3-1,here at Grandstand stadium. Sania’s smoothing serve led down Caroline and Kristina to 1-4. The Indo-Czech pair maintained their position till they received two dead lock but failed to produce killer blow and instantly paid prize.
Sania’s serve came under risk after they faced three break point, and was broken in the first instance itself. Top seed Gracia effortlessly served her turn at 5-5. The set apparently reached to scores 6-6, followed by a tiebreaker to crack deadlock. The French pair raced to clinch 5-0 scores, this lead them to win the tiebreaker easily by 7-3.
The French pair confidently maintains its dominance in second set, seventh seeds appeared clueless as the French pair earns an early lead of 2-0 while breaking Strycova’s serve.
Rain interrupted momentum of match but top seeds confidence remained on peak. As the match resumed the French player gained the lead of 4-0. Which almost broked t Mirza’s hope to regain her form, as both Caroline and Kristina peacefully claimed victory.
With this, India’s top players challenge gets over in US open and players departed back with shattered dream of winning title.
