‘Sarbjit’ goes tax-free in Uttar Pradesh

Mumbai: The Uttar Pradesh government today announced that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer “Sarbjit” will be tax free in Uttar Pradesh. This decision by the state government is welcomed by the makers of the movie.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the “decision will be implemented with immediate effect”, said a statement from the makers.

“Sarbjit” is directed by Omung Kumar and is releasing on May 20, will narrate the struggle of Dalbir Kaur, whose sole aim in life was to get her brother, who had been mistakenly taken to be an Indian spy, out of the Pakistani jail. Actor Randeep Hooda will essay the role of Sarabjit Singh, while Aishwarya will be stepping into Dalbir’s shoes in the film.

Producer of the film Jackky Bhagnan stated: “From day one, we have all believed that ‘Sarbjit’ is a story that needed to be told. It’s our labour of love and the team and I are humbled by Akhilesh Yadav’s kind gesture.”
